Annika’s Dayout

You wake up slightly at some point very early in the morning and find this cutest little thing looking at you through her crib.

What do you do?

Get up and find the camera despite the sleepiness.

Long Overdue

with one comment

I should be flogged for not updating this blog.  Our Annika Dahlin’ is now 24 weeks old and still no update from Mama

Hmmm, where do I begin?

DSC_0213One, majority of our family and friends who’ve seen Annika says that she’s a carbon copy of her Papa (very few people say I look like her). I can’t see the resemblance myself, pero sige na nga. I don’t mind. Annika is pretty and cute, so if she takes after papa and not after me (as I’ve hoped, hehe), its okay.

But she takes after Mama in many aspects naman: she’s the sweetest little thing! So inquisitive! Always naka-kunot ang kilay and so malikot!

Her sweetness was apparent the moment she was born. When she was given to me the first time and I started talking DSCN0872to her, she stopped crying and laid her face on my chest. She was quiet and seemed to be listening to what I was telling her. At three weeks old, she started sleeping through the night already. But I had to be extra attentive. If I notice her moving her head side to side, it  means that she’s hungry already, and I have to give her milk. This happens every two hours or so, kaya wala rin tulog. Early on, mabait na, diba? (a trait she got from her father, I’m sure!)

She rarely cries nowadays. So unlike before when she was suffering from atopic dermatitis. No doctor in Dubai (and we went to three different ones!) was able to cure her. I researched online and found Dr. Carlos Paguio from Medical City in the Philippines, a Derma-Pediatrician. The first thing we did when we went for vacation last May was to bring her to Dr. Paguio’s Clinic. After one day (as in one day lang talaga) of treatment, all her rashes went away. And most importantly, she was no longer a cry baby. Her rashes obviously caused her discomfort, hence, the crying. Looking back, awang awa kame sa kanya. To think we even brought her to an Osteopathy center! I thought the crying was about something else. DSC_0286

I breastfed her for only three months. I know, bad mama. We were on vacation and always wanted to go out. No time to pump, kaya ayun, naubos ang breast milk. I wanted to exclusively feed her with my milk for at least six months. Oh well, I don’t want to feel guilty anymore and she seems healthy naman.

DSCN1281We brought her out to the mall when she was barely four days old. I know, another bad mama episode. I was so excited to use her pram bring her out, I didn’t even think about her safety. But what I felt once we were out is pay back enough. I was literally shaking from worry. Thoughts about virus, Annika getting sick, etc suddenly dawned on me. Imagine the horror! I thought to myself that I’m never bringing her out again until she’s about three months old. This never happened because we were always out and about.

Time seems to move fast. She is now 24 weeks old and can crawl with her knees. She started razzing just last week. We DSCN2106were surprised when she did it. But after that, whenever we do it, she will follow. So cute!! She likes watching Dora The Explorer too! She watches attentively for a few minutes and after awhile, tulog na. That’s why I like Dora too 🙂

DSCN2076Annika eats everything in sight! Before, when she’s trying to eat a toy and she can’t bite into it, she will scream and cry. I was bothered at first but according to my friend whose baby is only a month older than Annika, her baby acts the same. And anyway, for some reason, she behaves much better now.

She loves it when I read to her. She listens carefully and after awhile would start eating the sides of the book! Matakaw talaga! 🙂DSCN2131

She started losing her hair before she turned three months old. The scary thing about it is it went off in patches. Is-ca-ry!   Good thing I read and am aware that this is normal. If not, baka dinala ko na naman siya sa doctor!

Oooh, speaking of doctors, you won’t believe the countless of times that I brought her to the doctor during her first few months! Pati Osteopathy, pinatulan ko, haha! Despite having my mom around and assuring me that what Annika was going through is normal, I needed to hear it from a doctor. Overly paranoid, I tell you!

DSCN1467But things around the house have normalized now. Annika is growing fast and my fears have subsided. Taking care of her now is more enjoyable than stressful.

So many updates! Next time, I’ll try not to forget and hopefully, I outgrow this katamaran syndrome and never forget to blog about Annika’s every milestone.

Update #14: 32W4D

leave a comment »

It’s been awhile since I last updated this blog. Am not busy, just been really lazy. So much updates and changes now that I’m almost on my 33rd week! Can you believe it? I’m on my last trimester and seven more weeks to go, baby Annika will be here!

Pregnancy Update:

I am now on my 32W5D and time is beginning to move slooow.

Getting a good night sleep is next to impossible. The same way as finding a comfortable sleeping position. Ack! My body is always telling me to sleep on my right side, but in the middle of the night, my right arm is numb and my right hip is aching! So, I turn (oh, how can switching sides be such a challenge!) to the left but it doesn’t help! In the end, I end up on my right side, with an aching hip and numb arm 😦

I wake up about 2-3 times every night to go to the bathroom.

Been through one leg cramp episode and I sincerely hope it would be the last! It was one heck of a painful experience! Harvs leaves really early to go to work so good thing my mother in law was around to help me deal with it.

I am always craving for milk chocolate drink! In fact, one of the reasons why I wake up in the middle of the night is to raid the fridge for some 🙂

Other than that, I’m well and good. I still drive, go malling and walk fast! 🙂

Baby Updates:

Had an ultrasound yesterday and as per the sonographer, Annika now weighs 2++kg! Wow, I’m so happy she’s growing according to her age. For the past few days, I’ve been worried about her health. I don’t eat too much healthy stuff and I’m afraid she might end up not being healthy. God, I hope not. All I want for her is to be normal and healthy.

Here she is at 32W4days:

Her lips is a carbon copy of her dads! 🙂

Update #13: Baby at almost 26weeks and Me at 26weeks :)

leave a comment »

Went for a detailed scan last Sunday. As per the sonographer, our baby is “uncooperative” and “naughty”. The entire duration of the scan, she wouldn’t show her face (look at the picture below). She was hiding her face with her hands and feet! I think our baby’s going to be a gymnast!

Baby has never given me a hard time all throughout this pregnancy, so I don’t believe she’s naughty, okay? 🙂

And this is me at 26weeks:
